Kaufman Products Selected for Narrows Generating Station

Scope of project: Encapsulate approximately 500 pilings with fiberglass and steel jackets, and then fill the annular space with SureGrout UW 8K and SureGrout UW cementitious underwater grouts manufactured by Kaufman Products.

MVN and Associates were tasked with providing maintenance to existing structures and expanding the existing footprint of the utility waterfront property. This work is being done to support new equipment being installed, and to increase the overall generating capacity for projected New York City usage. After thorough inspections of the substructure, it was determined that most if not all the timber piles required encapsulation due to Marine borer infestation. MVN & Associates reached out to their full-line marine distributor, Atlantic Materials Group, for their consulting and materials requirements as well as for help with job planning and execution. AMG recommended Kaufman Products who has established a rich history of manufacturing superior cementitious and epoxy grout fill materials specifically used in the pile rehabilitation/restoration market. Already underway, this project is estimated to be completed by the summer of 2023.
